Loading Paper Into the Paper Feeder Unit PF-712/Paper Feeder Unit PF-713
Overview
Load paper into the Paper Feeder Unit PF-712/Paper Feeder Unit PF-713.
Change the paper settings for the tray being used when loading paper of different specifications.
NOTICE
- Paper over 351 g/m2 can only be loaded into the Lower tray (Tray 3) of the 1st paper feeder unit.

Procedure

Pull out the tray into which the paper is loaded.
Proceed to Step 2 when loading the paper of different sizes.
Proceed to Step 5 when loading paper of the same size.
NOTICE
- The tray cannot be pulled out if the machine is not powered on. Turn the Sub power switch on. For details, refer to Switch on Power Supply of the System..
- Do not pull out multiple trays at once. Doing so may cause the machine to topple over.

Open out the Side guides and the Rear guide plate.
Rotate Side guide lock knobs of Side guides (2 locations) counterclockwise and loosen them.
Hold down Side guide lock release lever of Side guides and Rear edge guide lock release lever of Rear guide plate and open out the guides.
NOTICE
- When moving the Side guides, hold the front side Side guide lock release lever and back side handles. Trying to move just with the front side Side guides may misalign the position of Side guides.

Place the Side guides flush against the loaded paper.

Load approximately 100 sheets of paper with the print side facing up. Press down the Side guide lock release lever of the front side Side guides and place both Side guides flush against the paper. Position it so that it aligns with the size indicators on the top side of the guide supporting plate.

Rotate Side guide lock knobs of Side guides (total 2 locations) clockwise and lock them.

Load the paper with the print side facing up.
Load the paper so that it is aligned with the left side of the tray.
NOTICE
- Exercise care not to exceed the maximum stack height lines displayed on the tray Side guides when loading the paper.
- Small size guides are attached to two Side guides. Open these guides only when loading paper of width less than 139.7 mm / 5.5". For details about how to use the Small size guides, refer to Loading Small-sized Paper Into the Paper Feeder Unit PF-712 / Paper Feeder Unit PF-713.
- When loading paper over 401 g/m2 / 107 lb Bond, lock the Paper holding plate fixing lever in the back side only.

Place the Rear guide plate flush against the paper.
Hold down Rear edge guide lock release lever of Rear guide plate and place against the paper.
NOTICE
- Make sure that Rear guide plate is placed firmly against the paper. If there is a gap between the Rear guide plate and the paper, the machine will not be able to properly detect the correct paper size, which may lead to a failure in the paper feeding device.

Firmly push the tray all the way in.
The remaining paper amount indicator changes from "

NOTICE
- Do not apply excessive force when pushing the tray back in. There may be an unexpected impact on the machine because of the weight of the tray or paper causing the malfunction.
