Read a chart using the scanner of this system, and automatically adjust the magnification and print position of the front and back sides.
This function calculates the average of misalignments between print positions from the measurement results of up to 20 chart sheets.

A background sheet for measurement is output.
Output the background sheet for measurement with a paper size of A3 or 11 e 17. If the background sheet size is smaller than A3 or 11 e 17, the scan measurement may not be performed.
Test charts are output in duplex mode.
20 or more chart sheets can be output, but the maximum number of sheets that can be scanned in continuously is 20.
The [Scan Adjustment Chart] screen is displayed.
Place the top-left corner of the chart at a distance of approximately 5 cm / 2" each from the vertical size guide and horizontal size guide, and align the left and top edges parallel to the vertical size guide and horizontal size guide on the Original glass.
Set the black side of the background sheet face down (facing to the Original glass), and fit it to the vertical size guide and horizontal size guide in the left and top as shown below. In doing so, be careful not to shift the position of the chart that has previously been set.
Once placement is complete, close the ADF.
Repeat scanning 4 times for each chart.
- 1st time: Load a chart with the front side facing upward (on the side opposite to the Original glass) and with the top edge toward the back.
- 2nd time: Load a chart with the front side facing upward (on the side opposite to the Original glass) and with the bottom edge toward the back.
- 3rd time: Load a chart with the back side facing upward (on the side opposite to the Original glass) and with the top edge toward the back.
- 4th time: Load a chart with the back side facing upward (on the side opposite to the Original glass) and with the bottom edge toward the back.
Once the 4 scans are completed, a dialog box is displayed to calculate the adjustment value.
When scanning is properly completed, the [Number of Scanning] on the [Scan Adjustment Chart] screen is increased by 1, and the blue frame displayed in the illustration at the top of the screen shifts to the next one on the right side.
If you move the chart before the blue frame shifts to the next, the measurement may not be performed properly.
If a [Scanning adjustment chart failed] message is displayed, follow the on-screen instructions to correctly load a chart or background sheet for measurement.
If the ADF is open, a dialog box is displayed, and you cannot start scanning. Close the ADF, and then close the dialog box.
To continue the scan measurement, press [No]. To finish the scan measurement and calculate the adjustment value, press [Yes].
Pressing [No] increases the Chart Sheets count by 1, and returns to the [Scan Adjustment Chart] screen. Repeat scanning of the chart as many times as there are sheets. The measurement results will be added up. This operation can be repeated up to 20 times.
Pressing [Yes] automatically calculates the adjustment values from the added measurement results, and reflects them on [Zoom], [Image Shift], and [Deformation] of [Front] and [Back].
After pressing [Yes], output 1 sheet of a chart to confirm the result. If readjustment is required, scan the chart again.
If the adjustment value calculated by pressing [Yes] exceeds the adjustment range, the dialog box is displayed. In this case, retry scan measurement from the beginning. When the adjustment range is exceeded, the following causes are assumed. Confirm these points before retrying the scan measurement.
- The chart used for scan measurement is not correct (another chart was used).
- The print position is not adjusted properly.
- The adjustment of the reference position on the print side is not complete.
