[Screen Pattern]
Overview
This system uses the screen to form images.
In general, set [Auto] to automatically select the screen appropriate for [Type] and [Color]. When it is difficult to reproduce images using [Auto], manually change the screen.
The following screen is automatically selected depending on the combination of [Type] and [Color].

- This item is displayed on a product equipped with a scanner and HDD. For details, refer to What Is the [COPY]?.
Tips
- The following 3 types of screens are selectable: [Screen1 / Dot190], [Screen2 / Dot150], and [Stochastic / FM3]. The type of each screen can be changed in [Custom Screen]. Change the type depending on the use. For details about the [Custom Screen], refer to [Custom Screen].
- [Screen Pattern] can also be set using [)] on the right of the [Screen Pattern] key on the [Quality Adj.] screen.
Tips
The following screens are available.
- Line screen: Reproduces an image with a collection of lines like scanning lines of a television, offering better tonality. However, text may not be reproduced clearly because it is reproduced in the same way as photos.
- Dot screen: Reproduces an image with a collection of dots.
- Stochastic: This is an error diffusion method that reproduces copy images with small, random dots. This method is suitable for reproducing the text of originals sharply.
