[Distinction]

Automatically distinguishes text and image parts on the original to perform the optimal processing.

In this item, set the distinction rate to enable more appropriate distinction.

Tips

This item is displayed on a product equipped with a scanner and HDD. For details, refer to What Is the [COPY]?.

Tips

In color mode, color printers layer yellow, cyan, and magenta toners in addition to black toner, resulting in colored text. Also, to reproduce text on a screen, large or thick characters may have colors included in them in order to process the text in the same way as photos. To reduce such image processing, the system distinguishes the text parts from the photo parts while scanning originals. Then, the black text parts are reproduced in a single color using black only, and the photo parts are reproduced in the screen processed color mode.
[Distinction] can also be set using [-] or [+] on the right of both the [Text] key and [Color] key on the [Quality Adj.] screen.

		[-4]	Sets the rate to distinguish data as text in an original with images and text mixed. To increase the rate to distinguish data as photos using [0] as the point of reference, press the minus (-) key. To increase the rate to distinguish data as text, press the plus (+) key.
